Job Description:The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate humansuffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers andthe generosity of donors. We help increase the preparedness of ourcommunities by offering courses in First Aid, CPR/AED, Babysitter'sTraining, Lifeguard Training, Certified Nurse Aid Training and othercertification courses. American Red Cross Health and Safety instructors are anelite group of professionals who teach valuable lifesaving skills to 12million people each year in businesses, schools and communities.We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Instructor to work in ColoradoSprings. This is a part-time position that will be scheduled up to 19 hoursper week, with fixed availability for scheduling on Monday, Thursday,Friday and Saturdays. Instructors must be available for 12 hour shifts asneeded; business needs can range for coverage anywhere from 6am-9pm.Classes are from 1-6 hours long and daily hours worked are usually 8 hours orless. Additional availability is welcome and may result in additionalteaching assignments, but may not replace fixed availability (previouslylisted) in any given week. Instructors in this position will be required totravel routinely to locations throughout the Colorado Springs area.ResponsibilitiesInstruction: Teaches Red Cross Health and Safety courses within theircurrent certifications to businesses and to the community. Confirms course atleast 3-5 business days before the scheduled course. Must arrive to teachingsite a minimum 30 minutes before class is to begin.Supply Chain/Logistics: Manages all equipment and inventory in theirpossession. This may include transporting, unloading and setting-up thenecessary materials and supplies needed to teach classes and return thematerials to the prescribed location. At conclusion of class, is responsiblefor the cleaning equipment according to established decontamination guidelinesand reporting any maintenance issues to the appropriate logistics staffmember.Quality Assurance: Responsible for applying quality assurance and controlprograms. Integrates quality improvement activities and measures in overallservice provision. Ensures that the proper safety measures are in place toprotect customers and staff who participate in the training activities.Resource Management: Responsible for efficient and effective use ofresources. Adheres to the financial and registration policy regardingunregistered students in Community classes.Availability: Submits availability to teach in When-to-Work monthly andkeeps the availability current in the system to meet teaching needs of theterritory.Communications/Reporting: Engages in regular communications with TrainingSpecialist regarding course updates and latest changes to products/services.Actively communicates with Training Schedule Coordinator regardingavailability to teach. Submits training activity and other course relatedrecords according to standard timelines. Where applicable, training andcourse-related records must be submitted electronically using the American RedCross web-based learning center. The instructor is required to use thecorporate email account ( issued to him/her upon hire,for all American Red Cross related correspondence.Personnel Management: When an instructor's certification is at the levelof an Instructor Trainer, they may mentor or coach other instructors as apart of new instructor orientation or during instructor remediation providesupervision to instructors to ensure high quality delivery of services andprodAdditional duties may include the following: Participation during Town HallMeetings, quarterly In- Service Training, Product updates, trainingrequirement, certification classes and approved development training.
