Position Purpose/Objective:

The Operations Project Specialist coordinates execution and maintains activities associated with facilities management, capital equipment & capital expenditures, cost reduction projects, and new product introduction projects. Works proactively in addressing potential issues and applies real-time problem solving skills when working towards resolution. This position will liaison with other internal departments to ensure the business is positioned to meet or exceed financial targets and performance goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

Facilities Engineering Management:

  • Coordinate and maintain site capital budget using eCAR appropriations request process, management and passport reviews.

  • Ensure production capacity and capabilities support business needs using proactive planning & business management practices.

  • Research & implement manufacturing technologies aimed at improving operation efficiency, reducing cost, and improving product quality/EHS.

  • Provides input in development of strategic operations plans to achieve company objectives.

Cost Reduction:

  • Coordinate site cost reduction efforts in the areas of Productivity, Value Engineering, Supply Chain Product & Non-Product, Foot Print, and Headcount.

  • Maintain cost savings trackers & submit monthly reports to INT/UTAS.

  • Coordinate and participate in monthly site reviews with key stakeholders to ensure plans are in place and actions are being taken to achieve site cost reduction goals.

  • Recommends process improvements, cost reductions, and systems modifications and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.

Education Required:

  • AA/AS degree in a technical field such as Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 5+ years’ manufacturing experience or

  • BA/BS degree in a technical field such as Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 2+ years’ manufacturing experience or

  • MA/MS degree in a technical field such as Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

Experience/ Qualifications Required:

  • Experience in operations, finance and commercial practices required.

  • Knowledge of facility construction, construction safety and equipment installation required

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise influence without authority

  • Strong verbal and written skills

  • Communicates effectively at all levels

  • Ability to learn new programs/software

  • Ability to multi-task, and work under pressure and time-sensitive situations

  • Self-directed with an attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize issues towards a singular goal.

Experience Preferred:

  • Strong lean enterprise background, experience and knowledge

  • Knowledge of Airline/Aerospace industry

Work Environment / Other Position Requirements:

  • Office environment with moderate noise levels approximately 25%.

  • Production floor requiring safety glasses approximately 75%

  • Ability to stand for periods of time when on production floor

  • Due to federal regulation or contracting requirements, this position is only available to those who legally authorized to work in the U.S.
