Responsible to the CLS Program Manager or deputy assistant for all aspects of towing operations as indicated in the Performance Work Statement (PWS). Serves as a regular pilot filling schedule as needed M-F, and occasionally on Saturday. Tow Operations Manager can opt out of flight schedule and replace with a volunteer/alternate in order to comply with any managerial duties as required. This allows for both Blue and Silver flight opportunities with the Tow Operations Manager. Manages personnel and resources to complete the requirements set forth in the PWS and Printed Flying Schedule. Works jointly with Program Manager on number of pilots on staff, and hiring of future pilots in order to maintain contractual standards. Coordinates operational and administrative training. Towing Operations Manager will assist Program Manager or Deputy Site Manager with weekly/monthly flying schedule prior to final signature. Towing Operation Manager will be expected to attend Scheduling meeting prior to printed flying schedule signature by Program Manager. Tow Operations Manager will also be expected to attend weekly Maintenance meeting with government. The Towing Operations Manager will develop and maintain the Tow Pilot Handbook and any policy letters directed from the Program Manager. The Towing Operations Manager shall work in unison with the AMU Director of Maintenance or Production Superintendent to ensure that all tow planes are airworthy and maintained to a standard that coincides with the operations pace at the USAFA. The Tow Operations Manager shall be responsible for investigation of any flight operations incidents and mishaps and will be the primary point of contact when ALS is contacted by USAFA airfield operations or the FAA with regards to flight operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: College Degree or Equivalent

Managerial Experience: 3-5 years

Aviation Experience: 500 hours as pilot-in-command with 50 total hours as pilot-in-command of light, tail wheel aircraft, including 10 hours as pilot-in-command, during the past year of PA-18 aircraft. Tow endorsements (preferably current) noted in logbook per FAA Part 61. Proficient with flying and landing the tow aircraft from the rear seat.

License(s)/Certificate(s): Current FAA Class II medical, Commercial Pilot: airplane, single engine land. CFI desired.

Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Products

Valid Driver’s License: Yes
